so my room like most new yorkers is probably becoming unbearably hot. i think that the cracks between door and the frame are a bit wider than they should be (there was an issue with the door not even fitting the frame and the landlord haphazardly trimmed the door down). is there a foam of some sort i can get to fill in the cracks and still allow the door to close easily?

and putting drak grey slate-like tiles on the floor.
I'm torn as to what to paint the walls. Pewter? Silver? Blue? Orange?
Anyone have any ideas?

Might anyone know of a good non-toxic, maybe lowVOC spraypaint for outdoor furniture - that also protects against rust?
I'm refinishing 2 metal French patio chairs & would like to avoid the more sickening aspects of the job, while also having some cool colors to choose from!
I've looked at Krylon's new H2O line, but I see it is latex/ acrylic... Any ideas greatly appreciated.

During the winter, I've seen TV infomercials for a foam-type sleeve that slides over the bottom border of your door for the purpose of keeping out cold drafts. Maybe something in that product category could be used... only to keep your cold air in!

mdeathstar - lovely tiles! my instinct is to go with a silvery light gray. the adjectives those tiles bring to mind are: reflective, shimmery, light, sea glass. i'd carry that feeling through the rest of the room with shimmery, light colors.
zzzap, i was at ye olde local bargain shoppe ("amazing savings" in my 'hood) and they had a whole roll of weatherstripping for $0.99. and that's what it was called - foam weatherstripping.

Thanks misty! That was first gut reaction as well and I like your rationale. The bathroom is VERY small and has no windows but I'm trying to lighten it up with the glass tile and a lot of lighting (built in halo lights in the shower and a largish fixture over an oversized medicine cabinet).

Summer Greetings All:
Just wondering if anyone has Ikea's Blanco Balcony table, and if so are you happy with it. My mere sliver of a balcony needs a little functionality.
Thanks*

mdeathstar - You already have a lot of gray going so I would use a little more color, but something that still plays into the calm muted tones you have going. A light grayish blue (periwinkle?) would bring some color to the space without distracting too much from the wall or floor tiles. It would also provide a nice versatile backdrop for accessories. You could go with bright colors, neutrals, anything. Good luck!

Good afternoon. I was curious if there are any indicators of whether a base is a Saarinen tulip design or not (for example, number of screws, proportions, etc). I just purchased a stool off craigslist. I am 95% sure it's a fake (although it was advertised as authentic). It was cheap, not new (~30 years old) and pretty rusty. I'm going to have it sand blasted, powder coated and then sew a new cover for it. Thanks.
