I think these images are really cool, but shiver at the thought of undoing all my stuff in order to group by color, and then having to put it all back again.

I think I'm officially anti grouping by color now. Though it takes many small things and makes them a larger whole, it inherently devalues the individual item. (Though in these photos that premise doesn't really matter and they do look cool...texture within color and all.)

I've never been able to decide if this represents supreme discipline or supreme laziness (i.e., never wanting to ponder "what" looks good with "what"). In any case, I don't live like this. My sister sort of does ... she once gave me a beautiful handcrafted box (a gift from a friend) because was blue ... and there was no place for "blue" in her apartment!

In the case of THESE photos, it doesn't even look cool or like it represents any effort ... it just looks like the photographer tinted everything!

There is something very disconcerting about these photos -- maybe it's the jumble of stuff. At any rate, it makes me anxious to see just this concentrated dose of color.

I think this is one more of those trends that will make me glad I don't care one bit about being trendy. I'll just stick to my own style, which works quite well for me. Including keeping my books organized topically. Works for the library, works for me.

I never liked the grouping books by color. It might be different for me since I use my books professionally (design reference library rather than literary books) but for me it just seemed inefficient. I'd much rather have them grouped by category for ease of use.

How can I make my apartment look more like a thrift store?

I once visited a friend in another state who decorated one room, her living room, in green. The whole thing wasn't green, but she decided that was her motif or color scheme (or whatever!!) and if she needed anything new, she bought the green one of it. That doesn't work. I mean, I guess it could work and does work, people do it with an expert eye, but some people just go ahead like they can't see the difference between haphazard and intentional. And I don't mean "like," I mean because. It's one of those things I shouldn't let bother me, but I do, but just because some things come in various designer colors doesn't mean you have to take the green one.
