Tiny Tiered Shelf from IKEA

4-4-ikea-shelf-1.jpg Hidden in the kitchen organization section of IKEA, high up on a shelf, we spotted a new (to us?) design for their shelf inserts. The new, bright white color and simple pattern encourage display. Available in two sizes, these perforated metal shelves are nice enough to be used with exposed cabinets and shelving. They'd also work well in a bathroom or office or as a plant stand for a small herb garden...

There is an additional design pictured online. The small shelf is $4 and the large shelf is $5. The two sizes of shelves can be used independently or fastened together for the tiered shelf in the pictures.

They had these in grey before. I put 2 together with the lower tier facing each other and it fits well under the bathroom sink (accommodating the U-pipe). It beats spending $20 to buy something that are "specially" designed for under the skin storage.

Dammit, why did they just introduce these? We have a bunch we just put together in gray, but these would look MUCH better in our open shelving, argh...!

Wouldn't it be possible to spray paint your grey shelves white?

I can paint them white, but they won't have that cute design on them. I'll survive- it's just shelving!

I've been bugging my BF for weeks to drive out to IKEA for stuff both of need around our respective apartments. I will now have to redouble my efforts. I was trying to get along with spending money for something like this, but considering how nice they are, I now think it is well worth the investment.

I bought one of these shelves a few months ago and have not found a place in my apartment where to use it! It is too big for my kitchen cabinets and in most other places it is too small.... I would suggest checking that the dimensions will really work in your space before picking up a whole bunch of these.
