If you can't escape this August, how about a purchase from overseas? The wood in this clock comes from dismantled Thai fishing boats. Sold by VivaTerra for $69. What do you think? Survey below the jump...

one could probably do it for a lot less, but not having good saw skills myself, I would pay for it. but I would want a larger version

ick, ick! It looks like something my insane uncle would have made i.e. he thought he had design skills, but he hadn't.(example - a Canaletto print in a cheap gilt frame mounted on the hatch door between the kitchen and dining room)
