It reminds me of when the teacher used to do the same thing to get our attention and settle us down. The cooler temperatures are beginning to win over as the summer heat is tempered and we are once again eased into apples and pumpkins and fireside coziness. At this time you can find sunflowers in abundance at the markets and delis. I love them because they remind me of the summer heat even as a cool wind blows through my open window.
They also look great by themselves. One stem. Two or three. They seem comfortable in their independence.
I found this beautiful red variety at my local Dean & Deluca. And while everyone is now busy after the long summer it is nice to have something so simple and impacting to put in a vase and bring cheer to the apartment.
I love sunflowers. But I have a yellow wall in my house and most of my paintings on my wall is a sunrise or something with lots of yellow.
How much more Yellow can I bring in
yellow -- if you could find some of those orangey-red sunflowers illustrated above, they'd look fabulous against your yellow wall! (I wonder if I can find any here? I think they're gorgeous!)
