For any backyard gardener, planter owner, or gardener in the shade you are no stranger to this versatile bunch of plants. Hostas are easy to care for, spread like wildfire, and come in an infinite variety of textures, patterns and colors (within the range of green, of course).
But the leaves also get sold for cut flowers as well - the shot above and those after the jump are from the Plant District on 28th street. Who knew your garden was on the cutting edge of floral fashion?
The plant district sells these bundles of leaves for $8.50 each, which might seem funny to those of you with tons of these plants growing in the garden shade! But...
Last year we walked into Root Stock & Quade and they were using hostas for an August wedding table arrangement with simple white callas. It was a simple combination that conveyed the kind of effortless elegance that comes from the hands of nature:
