Classic. We first came across this rug in a cabin in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and thought that it was vintage, like the cabin. It centered the living room, right in front of the fire, and took tons of abuse, before it was simply vacuumed clean again. The secret? Wool. Braided from 95% virgin wool, these rugs last and last, while retaining a rich coloring that gets better with age. We were shocked when we found out that they came from L.L. Bean. The cost? $80 to $570, and they come in nine colors and seven different sizes. While the style isn't exactly W Hotel urban, this is a great rug to keep in mind. MGR

Can "Cabin Therapy" be far behind?!?
But don't think this type of rug doesn't border on the chic... interior designers Diamond + Barratta (sp?) have used this type of rug (but custom, and in their typically grandiose scale and over-the-top way) in more than one toney country home or Hamptons uber-manse.

Do you think this type of rug can mix well with Eames era furniture in a 1950's modern house?
