Check out this updated shag rug from textile designer Ulf Moritz. Made from a combination of wax-coated paper and natural wool, the Papyra can be spot-treated and vacuumed like a "normal" rug...

Made from 55% pure new wool, and 45% paper, Papyra comes in 12 neutral colors. Available from Karkula (which recently moved to Walker Street) for $106 a square foot. Manufactured by Danskina.

It looks like muppets. And while spot cleaning is fine, most rugs need a real shampoo or steam clean occasionally. Not possible with these, I'm guessing.
