Good Questions: Similar Colorful Chairs?

9-17-macys-chairs-1.jpgI'm in love with this dining set from Macy's, but it's way more money than I'm willing to spend. I've decided to go with either the Odyssey table from CB2 or the IKEA Docksta (any info on the Odyssey would be appreciated, I've heard all about the Docksta so you can save the IKEA rants!). The real problem I'm having is that I can't find similar chairs in my budget (up to $100). I love the shape and the four different colors of these chairs and nothing I've seen online has wowed me like these. Any suggestions from wonderful ATers would be great.
Thanks!
Lindsay

Lindsay, since you're already looking at CB2 and IKEA, we'd also suggest watching the inventory at Chiasso. Anyone else?

The Oh chair by Umbra is a different shape, but is sturdy, comfortable, and cheap ($63)--colorful too:

Get the snille chair from IKEA! It's what I did (all red) and they have several colors. They are very sturdy and comfortable. Not to mention cheap!

And here is the Ikea link: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S59842532

i have the oddysey table from cb2, and its perfectly fine. the construction is pretty good compared to what i hear about ikea and its only 50 more than the ikea price. there is a difference at the bottom (ikea tulips out a little more) if you are that picky.
but i would recomment the oddysey to anyone looking for this look :)

The chairs you're loving are the Calligaris Jam chair, which retail for $249 up here in Canada, almost certainly less in the U.S. If you love the chair, buy two and save for two more, otherwise you'll buy something you don't love and end up spending again down the road.
I have to agree with you, though, this was my favorite chair in a store that stocks more than 300 models: http://stylenorth.ca/blog/2008/08/chair-gazing-with-rita-zykas/

We were thrilled when we first got our Odyssey: sturdy, non-wobbly, affordable, cute. But it chipped. Sadness. The veneer is quite thin and small pieces kept flaking off after about 3 weeks. We didn't use it heavily or do anything stupid. Props to CB2, though, they agreed to come get it and refund us the entire amount, despite our complaining after the 30 return policy limit (about 50 days). A glass top would solve the problem, but negate the bargain aspect of the table. Then again, maybe ours was just the bum table of the lot. Anyone else have this problem?

these chiasso chairs aren't nearly as striking, but they're nicely priced at $128 for 2:

i've been looking for colorful, inexpensive kitchen chairs as well, and am considering the room and board "jake" chair ($79) since it comes in blue and orange:

I recently received my odyssey table in the chrome and walnut color option. It's quite sturdy and I love it! I definitely recommend it.

Hello.. I have tHese Calligaris green chairs... 6 tabLe chairs and 2 bar cHairs / one table chairs Cost around 100 Euro and bar chair cost around 250 Euro (in Croatia)... you can see them here http://calligaris.it/04_catalogo/catalogo_colpo_occhio.asp?percorso=2&prc=12&page=2
