It's such a good idea. The Cave bookcase by Sakura Adachi lets you curl up with a good book in your bookcase. The case is deep, so books can be stored on both sides of the shelf when it is placed away from a wall...

It looks really uncomfortable to me. Seems to allow for only one sitting position, possibly 2.

Actually, it sort of reminds me of an open MRI

Isn't the cave theme defeated by the open space on both sides of you if you put this thing in the middle of a room?
Are those telephone books?

It needs a steering wheel and a video screen for when the book gets boring.

Good question Anne. I thought they looked a little like Cliff Notes?
The Cave bookcase - for the person who sits in only one position and reads only one book.

This is almost too close to Vernor Panton's Phantasy Landscape from the 70s...just a cheap Ikea-esque take on it.

How to be inside a cave of books...
1. Acquire lots of books.
2. Cover walls with bookshelves. Do not block windows (see step 4).
3. Fill bookshelves with books. If gaps remain on bookshelf, repeat step 1.
4. Put sofa in room. (Variations: Put comfortable chair in room. Put bed in room. Optional: Table to hold drink and more books. Not optional: Light source, unless you read using braille.)
