In a city of small spaces, small solutions are sometimes best. Found in Craigslist, Happy advertises himself as a "Friendly, experienced mover/driver," and "MAN with a Chevy VAN" who can "help you pick up sofas, bookcases, dressers, Queen sized beds, etc..." to "help you carry your new furniture to and from each location." His pricing scheme is a little confusing, but not unreasonable.
Prices for the VAN:
$40 for the first hour
$10 for every 15 minutes after with no hourly minimum
Prices for the MAN:
$35 Curb to Curb (no lifting)
$25 an hour for Extra helpers
