Bett dn43 Storage Bed

2-29-bett.jpg

Part Three. Something about today turned it into the day of "Beds with Storage Options." In addition to our posts about the Sean Yoo's Matera Bed With Storage and Wonk's Knickerbocker Storage Bed, we just stumbled across this cool design: The Bett dn43...

If you don't have the energy to figure out how to buy this from Germany, we recommend you dig closely into these pictures and figure out your own DIY version.

That's wicked. You'd have to make the mattress fits perfectly so it doesn't obstruct the sliding panels, though.

mmadden,

I suspect that's part of the design. They would prevent the mattress from sliding off the side, a concern someone expressed about the wonknyc bed.

yeah, I realize that. It's really smart how the panels hem in the mattress a bit (at least visually).

Hmmm....I can't decide if I like this or not. The other two storage beds are easier to work with whereas with this one, you definitely need to have a certain look to your dwelling in order for the bed to not look cheap.

I don't know about this one... I could've have used one of these in my college days, but then I was perfectly happy with my storage bed made with stolen milk crates back in the days.

My mattress has never slid off the bed, despite vigorous use.

That looks dangerous. I have 8 stitches in my thigh from a run-in with a captain's bed drawer when I was a kid: I wouldn't go near this thing.

If it was natural wood color I think I would like it better. The white kind of makes it look cheap.

Agree... it looks cheap. I like storage beds, but this looks like that particle board shelving you get at Home Depot.

It looks a bit like an IKEA hack--something I'd expect in a bachelor grad student's apartment. Real wood would dress it up a lot.

yes.. it kinda looks like mdfb.. it also (to me) looks like one of those pieces that you assemble with no glue or screws.
Cool Concept though!

I like the idea, and don't mind that it's white but probably needs tweaking. The panels look like particleboard which makes me think it could be dangerous, it may either be too heavy or slippery. Working a handle into the design or something that will make it stay in place. I've handled particleboard when assembling furniture in my lifetime and I've always found them heavy and slippery.
