NY Good Questions: What Type of Brackets Do We Need?

3.3wall.jpgHello AT,

We're trying to put a good 12 feet of shelving across one plaster wall of our Brooklyn apartment.

While we've got a carpenter all lined up with some gorgeous reclaimed barn wood, we're having trouble finding just the right system of brackets to do it.

We're trying for something super-simple, but rustic, sort of like what's in this photo (from the Calypso Home store; the shelves were done by someone known as "Story Man").

Any idea where we can find something similar? Thanks! Matt

If your shelves don't need to be adjustable, I'd find a local blacksmith to make you a custom set of long iron brackets that will fit your shelves perfectly.

You'll need to provide exact measurements of the shelves and how far apart you want them - but you'll have something unique and useful that will last you forever.

These black sugatsune angle brackets come in all different sizes. I have the stainless ones in my kitchen and they're gorgeous with wood shelving. You can orders them at Simon's Hardware.
