Pendine Collection by Terence Conran

01.11.pendine.jpg

The Pendine collection is designed by Terence Conran himself and is available exclusively at The Conran Shop. We love the simple collection, pure boxes with nice finger jointed corners. Not even hardware clutters up the collection: pulls are holes that are drilled into drawer fronts...

In keeping with the collection's simplicity, the pieces are all made of natural veneered Canadian maple. There is a bedside table, short 2- and 3-drawer pedestals, and larger 4- 10- and 12-drawer dressers.

Ha! Wow. For some reason those photos make everything look so tiny, so I thought they were just little storage drawers, for a desktop or dresser... and when I saw the prices I almost denounced AT... until I read the descriptions, hehe.

Not a fan. I am a huge fan of simple, but these look a lot like those Ikea unfinished wood storage boxes. And at these price points, shouldn't the corners be mitered and the edges line up? This looks like it is composed of maple flat pack slabs. Atlantico did a much better job with the same solid wood concept.

This looks like something from Ikea. Not terribly impressed.

sort of shaker meets gothic cabinet craft. I suspect though that the pieces could be incredibly useful and long-lasting.
