Looks calm and peaceful, but a little too sparse, and all the seating is too close to the floor. (My achin' back!)

I don't know...
to me, it looks like the bed area is haphazard. Why is there a random flooting side table thing (especially with 2 cords running of it)? To me, it seems like someone tossed a mattress on the floor, dropped down two random side tables and a bean bag chair and then lined storage up against the wall.

And where do guests sit? All on your bed?
Everything is so low it seems almost uninviting and would make me, as a guest, feel like I was intruding in someone's private bedroom, not an entire living space. I don't even see a table or proper chair.

First apartment out of college? Apartment during college?

Not my bag, too many things at floor level - including the bed.

I do like the white and the round storage, the art on the walls is very nice too

Not to be rude but this place doesn't fit into "minimal style". The beauty of the style is clean and fine finishes with neat and straight components. This place is way too messy and busy to be considered as "minimal" and lots of the component is rather cheap than fine.

The corner with folded blanket and pillows, maybe a lamp or some darl object sticking out is just like a college dorm.... The pendant lamps... both of them are modern, mid centry rather than minimal.

Less furniture does not equal minimal… It might be a minimal wanna be, maybe in another few years.

The pictures tell me nothing about th style of the apartment. Next year, hopefully, AT will get more control over the picture subjects.

When I saw the bed on the floor, I thought I had made up my mind, because when I slept on a mattress on the floor, no matter how cool I thought it could be made to look, it just was kind of pathetic. Your little space is like a cloud. I really like your round shelving (is it construction material?), how they are all different sizes and your books don't have to be lined up and I think dividing your books by color (mostly was precious and overused recently) really works there, and I like how you describe your apartment as an extension of your bed. And the lit-up headboard. !!! Like!

I'm not sure how it works if you have guests, or if it's a little more structured in the kitchen, it's a mystery. The feeling when I watch the slides is that I miss a table or desk-like piece to sit at, anywhere, but I dislike offices in bedrooms, so I hope we get to see more of your space.

i don't think this place feels too useful or actually comfortable to live in, but i love the way it looks and the items you have in there nonetheless. very pleasing to my eye. love the little table by the chair thing. i have that storage piece myself in a 3-level and i love how you use the one drawer level as a little table. love the round storage bin thingees too.

actually (forgot to include this) i like how you put stuff on the floor- feels very japanese in that regard.

Looks like a design student lives here. I'm too bourgeoise to want to live like this, but I can see that it's cool

I think it's cute - could never live in a bachelor apartment myself, but I admire people who can make it work for them. And you've certainly done that - it looks comfortable and peaceful.

I really love those round storage things that are strapped together reminds me of Droog. I would have voted cool, but the photos look heavily photo shopped.

Who stole the furniture?

Cool. Has a lot of potential, but needs a bit more 'polishing'. even for the 'haphazard minimalist' look that he seems to be going for. This is further proof that minimalism is a lot more than simply picking out items from a website or showroom.

I love it. With an apartment that is 285sq ft. there is always the question "how do I hide my bed?" What I like about this apartment is instead of hiding it Andreas has embraced it. All too often people feel trapped in the convention that they need a living room, dining room, bedroom, etc... This apartment strays from that conventional wisdom and is clearly designed based on what user feels is most important to them.

The soft lines and low furniture has a calming relaxing feeling to it and it is remarkably stylish given the obviously low cost of set up.

Please tell us about the round bookshelves and the headboard - did you make it or buy it?

minimal does not mean "minimalist"...I think it's fine that he called his place minimal. I really like the use of unusual lighting in this apartment. I think there is a personal, over-all aesthetic that clearly works for him. Thumbs up!

I liked it a lot, especially the lighting and the I'd-never-do-it-but-it's-creative tube shelves. Then I hit the pic with the "futon". I definitely see what you're trying to do with it, but with the rest of the apartment being so geometric, it comes off as "messy" rather than just "amorphous". Otherwise, looks great!

I love the circular shelves and the light headboard. Did you get that idea from Readymade? I saw that in one of their first issues and have kept it ever since with the idea that someday I will do that. I love the apt.

It's great what you've managed to do with such a small space, the living/bed area is v v cool! Though I guess it must pose some impracticalities when people come round? Where are the bathroom and kitchen, I need to see those in order to vote!

Not without potential, and I like the motivation, but overall it looks like a dorm room decorated in a day from whatever was found at the local furniture mall. I particularly dislike the haphazardly made bed and the mattress on the floor, which just adds to the adolescent atmosphere.

I love it. It looks like a place for lazy mornings and long relaxing conversations. I think it's beautifully dishevelled.

i love the international/italian cataloug style going on here! its different and unique to the owner. Great idea with the barrel book shelves. This looks like a working studio, very calming for the creative process! "super cool"

Oh my! everything is on the floor. That reminds me of the time when I was in college and we used bean bag chairs and futon mattresses on the floor because we couldnt afford furniture. Ahhh.. I miss my college days, but not the back pain from sleeping on the floor.

This really reminds me of Japanese places with all the stuff on the floor. The furniture is particularly similar to the things generally purchased for tiny Tokyo apartments (which the pictured place is about the size of). I find that type of floor-level living really irritating, but I do like the "drums" that things are stored in and the overall use of white.

I wasn't sure whether the good people at AT would post the photos at all - the style is rather different from all the other places. there's barely an actual piece of furniture in my place (not by accident though).

yes, most of the comments that try to describe me are correct: Design Student, just out of college on the first job, bachelor. Funnily enough, while i was actually IN college, my furniture was more high up. Some of the other points were already addressed by other people (i.e. the square footage, minimal/minimalism)

I don't have guests over much, and I remember from my apartment that i lived in in college is that my dining area was almost never used - and I just decided there was no room for such incidental functions. likewise with guests: i do not usually have more than one person over, so I didn't make room for more than one guest.

@ Jenna, Orchid 64: I was in fact inspired by Japanese interior design. a lot of the odds and ends are from Muji, and one thing I'm still considering to get is Tatamis for the bed area

@JPK, Monca G: The headboard is something i came up with by myself - it's actually extremely simple to build. the frosted glass is attached to the wood frame with velcro strips.

Concerning the shelves: they're from muuto

The bed on the floor really works in this apartment. It's serene. It's a hard look to pull off but this execution is successful.

I also love the tubular shelving component...another great execution.

The lighted headboard...you just keep banging the creativity out.

I would love to get my hands on that awesome letter "S" on your wall.

The naysayers can say what they want but this apartment is one of the MOSt creative in the entire contest.

Thank you for posting "instructions" on your headboard and the source for your round shelving. I saw some interesting things over there.

P.S. Please come back and tell us what kind of lighting was used inside the headboard!

wow! i'm surprised with how many people didn't like this place. I thought that it was a clever use of 285 sq ft. and someone commented that it was "messy" - huh? looked tidy to me. maybe this is one of those spaces you either love or you hate. i like the creative touches - especially the round tube shelving and the headboard. way to go! very nice place.

I still think that having actual furniture is a great idea :)

The chair in the bedroom (as well as the bed itself) look student-living-in-the-dorm sloppy, not minimalistic.
