A fresh update on traditional asian furniture forms is Red Egg's specialty. The wholesale furniture company, owned by Carol Gregg, operates out of High Point, North Carolina and is distributed nationally.
With a start of importing Chinese antiques, Red Egg more recently was spotted in a Domino magazine spread. The bright colors on traditional forms are clean and invigorating and are at home in a range of interiors from minimalist to classic. Carol says, "We use sophisticated but fun colors to recreate classic furniture so that it becomes something new."

what a tease! I love this stuff. Any retail info in NYC?
Beautiful things, but most of us can't buy furniture wholesale.
Here in NYC, Red Egg is available at Stella (smaller items), Zarin (will have the Indochine Cane line) and Charlotte Moss (opening soon) will have a good selection of Red Egg products.
There's that pesky phrase "sophisticated colors" again...
Wow. Swanky!
Judging from the photos, "sophisticated" in this context means "colors that are 'in' this year and weren't 'in' last year." The pale blues and deep reds are showing up in a lot of places lately.
I think it also means (here!) semi-non-traditional colors for this type of furnishings, perhaps?
(Tho, of course, the red and black are fairly traditional)
I was thinking that was the "fun" part...
Googling "sophisticated colors" gets 28,000 hits, btw. A spot check of the hits suggests that "sophisticated" is the new "upscale."
Not that it didn't mean something specific at some point... many buzzwords start their lives with a narrow, useful meaning and get diluted.
