apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

AT Survery: How's Comments Going?

3-29-community.jpgAs Mark bravely battles bugs and returns your emails, we wanted to check in and see how the new community system was going for you. We realize that this is a change, creates an impediment to commenting (initially), and has been buggy, but we hope that it signals an improvement in your eyes....

Please remember that we expect to be teasing out bugs throughout this week so keep emailing us if something isn't working at support (at) apartmenttherapy . com.

Once we get this to work, the next steps go like this:

1. remove security codes from Surveys for registered users
2. create internal emailing between readers
3. create "bookmarking" of favorite posts so that they show popularity on front page and collect to your personal page
4. create reader "posting" so that posts created on personal pages can be pulled to the front page.

Of course, there's more than that, but this is where were going next. Right now it'd be great to know what you think about the comment function and personal pages in general.

I've had a few problems (I'm a Hotmail person), but your support team has been really helpful and gracious.

Keep up the great work!

I had the original hotmail problem but all is going well now. I like how fast the comments post and I like the way they look visually.

Will the list of comment posts that appear under a person's profile remain forever, or do they fall off after a period of time?

I agree that the support team has been great working out the various problems and responding back to us.

Question: Is there going to be (or is there already and I've just missed it) a button or some way for us to go directly to our own personal pages?

Mark White gets major props for being both very prompt in responding to problems and consistency in making sure they are solved. Good job AT!

oceandreamer, you may notice in the "Post a comment" section it notes that you are "Logged in as..." Click on your name there, and it should take you to your own profile page.

i dig the changes. i like having an identity! ;)

i love the idea of flagging favorites, instead of desperately scrolling through the archives or running a search. it's also a good way to keep a 'backtrack' of things requiring responses or answers to questions you've asked in comments.

good stuff!

i like the new system, i was a little disappointed that i had to change the spelling of my name. patrick ( the other one registered before i did) and my first registration did not take since the email link did not work.

Mark Wilkie helped me with my (embarrassing user error) issue incredibly fast. Plus, he was kind enough not to make fun of me for misspelling my own e-mail address - thanks man.

Question - I've been using one computer so far, but plan on using another one. Do I need to log out of the first computer first? If so, then how does one log out?

I LOVE the new system. My only complaint is that the number of comments on the front page always erroneously says "0."

One thing that's nice is if you make a comment on a thread, then 3 days later want to check back and read the following comments, you can find it quickly on your profile rather than rummaging through the archives trying to find/remember the title of the original post.
