We like that it is very basic and adjustable. This design would be a different look for a bedside table. Available in white from DWR for $500.

I really feel like I've seen a version of this in bronze or something - perhaps in an old Domino? Has anyone seen what I'm thinking of?

I'm sure you have...it reminds me of plant stands from the 70s.

DWR's $500 table seems a lot for what, as aaron notes above, looks a lot like a 70s plant stand. I'd have thought Calder would have provided more inspiration.

cheap looking and not practical

I have always wondered why they call it Design Within Reach when all of their stuff is so obscenely expensive.

This guy takes inspiration from Calder's works and all he can come up with are three spray-painted pizza platters on top of a hacked camping stool?
FAIL.

This looks like something IKEA would have sold 10 years ago for $8. And I don't mean that in a good way.
jzh797s: It's called Design Within Reach because they were one of the first companies to make high-end modern design readily available (and in stock) within the US. The name has nothing to do with the cost of their goods.

Design Within Reach was to make the designs available to the public without a designer acting as a liason between the homeowner and the furniture house.

Ah, but you all fail to understand that this is an investment in an original piece that was built to last a lifetime. Therefore it's worth every penny. <--- (eyes rolling)
This table is fug. I would much prefer the tree trunk with the Noguchi book on it.
