Chess anyone? Not a game, Karim Rashid's new 15-piece table top collection for the Turkish firm Gaia & Gino, recapilulates the skyline of Istanbul.
Made of glazed porcelain, every piece fits together in puzzle piece fashion and serves every purpose imaginable, from salt and pepper to soup bowl to ashtray. Available as a set ($1775) or as separates from Unicahome.com.
What do we think? Disregarding that Rashid is hellbent on kicking Philip Starck backwards onto his ass and taking his throne, we rather like the eccentric pieces. While not necessarily practical, we do find ourselves wanting to USE them and one night at a restaurant test driving these babies would be a treat. MGR

I too find the thought of eating a meal in a restaurant with I hope suitably clean porclein likenesses to urinal cakes and sex toys somewhat intriguing. Rashid is overrated and unlike Stark has produced nothing I'd like to live with or in.
After a few "cups" of wine, I would find placing the drink vessel puzzle piece back into it's place problematic. I'm sure I would chip it on the ashtray. It's all a bit gimmicky for my taste.
All true, all true... but to fabulous to over look. I think I need to add it our line at my store.
