Stupid smart. Okay, here is a party tip that we discovered last night at a real, live party.... our first holiday party of the season!
We said we would go for 1/2 an hour, have a drink and then head out for dinner. No way. Aside from the fact that the Beaujolais was delicious and the talk funny and refreshing after a hard day at the office, the food was good and we were able to eat it comfortably due to these little plates. We yucked it up and had a standing dinner with the best of them.
Doubling as cup holders, these handy little guys struck us for their smart design and simple, clean aesthetic. We took two home. How much and available where?? We have emailed the host and will post it here asap.
Available at Imageryproducts.com - $1.89 for 36. (Thanks, Patti & Chris!) MGR

My friend gave me a set of these in wood from Crate and Barrel. I can't wait to use them when I entertain next. A simple but ingenious design.
Pottery Barn has a wooden version-- the Springwood Mingling Plate--

I have to say, while at a work party, I was wishing that they had these smart little items. Such a pain holding your glass and food while trying to mingle.
At events like the James Beard Award Gala Dinner, they give out little clips that hang on your plate and hold your glass. The clip is probably slightly less effective than these plates, but since you dump your plate and get a new one at least 20 times through the night (at the Beard Awards), the clip makes more sense.
I've seen these at liquor stores (here in Philly)- the plastic version similar to the one in the picture- for only a few bucks each.
I found some of these plates here, along with the clip.

Does the food stay on if you drink from the glass?
AH HA HA HA HA!!!
