Nutshell Review:

Been in 'em a week and this is a splurge that is worth it. The sheets get rather wrinkled, but unlike a set of crinkled cotton sheets, the look here is more like a really great hair-do, gone messy after a ride in a convertible. Definitely sexy, and not uptight in the least.

There's a reason they're called "linens" - and what a treat it is to get back to the origins of bedding and sleep on real linen sheets. Eileen Fisher is designing bedding for Garnet Hill featuring organic cotton and linen items. Linen requires far fewer chemicals to cultivate than cotton so although not certified organic, it takes a load off the ol' carbon footprint of your bedroom...

Machine washable in cold water, they dry in less time than other sheets. The line features a duvet cover, sheet set including pillowcases, shams and bolster covers, a duvet cover, and a bedskirt. The top sheet and pillow cases have a beautiful, subtle hemstitch around the edges, and the hem is left unfinished. We're sporting the pear, the punchiest of the colors, but this is a line of bedding where every color is beautiful, so it's hard to choose (which reminds us of those rare albums like Abbey Road and Graceland where every song is great and you can't choose one).

A few nights of sleep and the sheets get rather wrinkled, but unlike a set of crinkled cotton sheets, the look here is more like a really great hair-do, gone messy after a ride in a convertible. Definitely sexy, and not uptight in the least.

Colors: Pure White, Pear, Clay, Rosewater or Butter.

I bought a few sets of linen sheets about 10 years ago for myself. I didn't have a lot of money at the time and it was a big splurge. I still have every piece. They hold up well and feel fantastic. I have outfitted every bed in my house with linen now (even my 3 yr olds bed) and have bought my mother in law and my mother sets as gifts. They are so much better than cotton.

I have found 6 linen sheets at various thrift stores throughout the years and love every one. I could never have afforded them brand new. My friends ask me why I keep shopping in thrift stores and I just smile.
