We made the Lee Brothers' Sour Cream Ice Cream last weekend, and loved it. It was served with peaches braised in marsala and drizzled with the remaining marsala that we reduced to a syrup. A great way to honor the fact that peaches are happening right now. Now is your moment. Seize a peach.
The braised peaches are a dish we made up earlier in the week. Unfortunately, on that particular evening, the Apartment Therapist was too busy reading Harry Potter to notice the plate of peaches that had just been set down in front of him. He swears they smelled good. "I don't like my peaches so hot," he muttered, still not looking up, excusing himself for reading yet another chapter. skgr
Marsala Braised Peaches with Sour Cream Ice Cream

I saw that recipe in the Dining section. Is it good, then? How would it be on its own? I was just curious about it, since there is no sugar in it - just sour cream and yogurt.
I love these segments not only for the food ideas (any lunch I was planning on having today suddenly pales...), but for the little snippets you provide of domesticity at the AT home base and test kitchens. :)
ps: your food presentation is stunning, as always.
O, joy! I was wondering where the food bits were and they're back! I'll diet tomorrow.
Seize a peach, would you? Now is the moment, is it? I think the squirrels in Brooklyn are AT fans. Or else they just know what time it is regarding peaches. Why did i come home the other day to find shredded peach skins on my kitchen floor and a half-eaten peach in the windowsill? Suddenly I understand what the hole in my window screen means. (Landlord has since patched it up for me). I assume the fact that he ditched his meal means I surprised him by coming in (even though I didn't see him)...who knows, he might have been ready to start whisking butter...
