Banjo Countertops

The name struck us as funny when we learned about banjo countertops a few years ago. But now we just think of them as great space-savers in tiny bathrooms. They're named after the musical instrument because of their shape...

The photo up top is of a thick Corian top. The banjo leg appears to even house the water tank of the toilet. We love how the corian is completely integral from sink basin to soap holder.

If you're installing a banjo countertop yourself, just remember to check your toilet and be sure there's room to remove the top of the tank with the banjo leg installed.

I have a countertop like the one in the second picture in my one and only, teeny, tiny bathroom. I love the look of a pedestal sink but the space the L shaped countertop provides is very practical.

When I replace the formica countertop with stone sometime in the future I'm going to do a counter in the same shape.

That first pic - Even better would be if the water used in the sink then drained over and was used by the toilet ~

It does look practical, but the white one reminds me a little bit of airplane bathrooms. There should be a paper towel dispenser and soap on a gyroscope.

I really like #1 even tho it's clearly from the 70's

My building replaced the banjo countertop in one of my bathrooms with a pedestal sink - I liked it for about a minute, then realized that I missed the counterspace and simple/clean surfaces. (even in spite of the 1960's Formica)

Won't let them make that mistake in the other bathroom!
