Servo-Drive Opening Feature from Blum

0612_blum2.jpg

New this summer from Blum, maker of high-quality door glides, is Servo-Drive. It's a little over the top, but this new opening feature actually opens drawers for you. You simply touch the drawer or give it a light pull and an electrical drive opens the drawer for you...

Now, do you need Servo Drive? Probably not. But from the looks of the photo above, it's a lot of fun to show your friends when they're over for dinner.

If they are servo driven then it should be possible to operate them via remote control.

My gosh, how LAZY are we becoming?!!

I think it's not about laziness. Designwise it can be very nice, and is also practical. I use it for drawers behind sliding doors where you have no room for handles. I also built it into my coffee table, which made my drawers invisible and also safe for the knees :)

But if it operates with electricity then it is bullcrap. There is no use putting electicity into practice. I have this touch-to-open solution and works pretty fine without raising my bills: Tipmatic Dynamic NT Touch-to-Open system
