quiltmaster's looking for window treatment ideas...

Hi AT:SF, We're in the middle of renovating an old house and decided on a wood-burning stove for the living room. The stove has been fitted and works really well... but looks awful. I can't seem to find much inspiration for a surround for this type of stove but I'd rather not go the 'traditional' fireplace route if I can help it...

Rob liked Midwest #11: Lisette's Pied a Terre which is one of the other finalists. He said he really liked the living room because of the sense of color and the nice feeling he got from the natural light.
I really liked East #6: Matthew's Gallery even though his entry didn't make it to the next round. I like it when people surround themselves with interesting objects that say something about who they are. I really liked how he styled his living room. The mismatched pillows turned at an angle and the wall of super cool art blew me away.
May Sales...
We don't know anything about these nine Antique Travel Posters other than that the seller says his father collected them during WWII... but we think they're pretty darn cool.

There are so many great entries it is hard to choose just one. The colour used in Midwest #4: Kimberly's Happy Niche was just great. East #3: Luca's Surplus of Storage & Light was also very slick. Plenty of other cool small space to draw inspiration from!
AT:SF, I moved to San Francisco last year and have been grappling with this small problem. I'd like to hang something over my bed but I have this huge fear of earthquakes, so I'm hesitant to hang anything that might smash my head/poke my eye/shatter all over me when I'm asleep and an earthquake hits. Besides hanging fabric or unframed prints, any other ideas?

Northwest #11: John's Mission Melange. His place is warm and has character. I like the use of color and blend of objects. There is personality in his place.
(This is the third of our honorable mentions, which go to submissions that did not make the finals but really rock. They are awarded purely at the judge's discretion. Each honorable mention receives a special gift.)

Northwest Judge Philip Wood's choice for his Honorable Mention goes to an Eastern entry. He says:
so, my honorable mention would go to East #13: Kayla's Hall of Blues. the use of colour is great, I really like it.
Congratulations to squidlette, who was the winner of our SF Thursday Giveaway! Happy reading! (And thanks for entering, everyone!)

Without a doubt that would be International #7: Danielle and Lakshan's Urban Cottage. I love the light airy feel to the photos - the colours they have used in their decor are so relaxing and complimentary. Also though I haven't seen pictures of their roof terrace or outdoor space my mouth is already watering at the mere thought (though it might just be jealously, with summer on the way and no outdoor space to call our own).
Hey there AT:SF, I was clicked over to the FLOR website through an ad on your page. All of their pictures have such great styling. I love the lamp in this pic and the name of the designer is escaping me. I know it's an iconic piece but I just can't place it. Any ideas? Thanks.

East #3: Luca's Surplus of Storage & Light - It's amazingly modern and streamlined, yet warm and inviting. Love the storage wall/room divider and the touches of wood.
It's not every day that a DWR Sapien Bookcase - Excellent Condition show up on Craigslist, and when one does, it goes quickly. Grab this tall, grey one before it's gone.
Carpets need cleaning? We wholeheartedly recommend Complete Carpet & Upholstery Cleaners. David Mercurio has been cleaning carpets and upholstery for over 20 years, and we can personally attest to the sometimes miraculous work he's performed on the cream-colored carpets of two of our family members. Stains from printer ink? A bathtub leak? Ancient felines? Gone.

Southwest #22: LouLou & Nico’s Duplex Deluxe is absolutely my favorite. Somehow they’ve been able to create space that conveys passion (must be all that red!), but is also very calm and inviting. It takes skill to create that kind of balance. Plus, it strikes me that everything in their home was chosen with care, which is something I greatly admire.
Perhaps you, like us, missed seeing Michelle Kaufmann's own Novato Glidehouse over on Re-Nest?
You've probably seen Fethi Atakol's colander as lampshade -- but Little Green did it first. (Her photo in our Flickr account is actually a couple of years old.) Check out the one that's all lit up in the background.
AT:SF, Just got a great deal on this shell. Unfortunately, the fiberglass is badly scratched, making it white all around the edges (see close up). It actually looks like someone did this on purpose, tho I can't imagine why...

Midwest #34: James and Emily's Vintage Modern Studio - I'm totally in love with the green kitchen and the entire feel of the place is so warm and inviting.
