When looking for window coverings for our bay windows, we went to Conrad Shades -- a store renowned for its elegantly unfussy hand-woven window coverings. Drawing inspiration from nature, Conrad Shades creates shades, drapery, and other products from handwoven natural fibers that are unmatched in their design and craftsmanship.
Conrad Shades began fifty years ago when its founder, Edie Conrad, began importing "Biri-Weaves" (handwoven wall coverings made by interweaving wheat and barley strands with silk and linen fibers) from her native Norway. In the 1960’s, Edie discovered the skilled artisans and exotic natural fibers of Asia -- and thus, she started a collection of handwoven window coverings.
Conrad Shades provides many window covering options, including Roman fold shades, drapery, sliding panel systems, and cornices. The panels are minimal and structured, but have enough texture and warmth to keep them from looking too clinical. The panels also use a cord system that stacks neatly to the side or center, thus ensuring the view from you window is not obstructed.

Shades and draperies can also be ordered through Kneedler-Fauchère in San Francisco, located on Henry Adams Street.

Beautiful and uncompromising products. But thinking, not geared towards the average ATer. These are very pricey and only custom made. Even moneyed (lower high end) clients balk and wince at the prices. (e.g. recent quote requested: $60K for 4 sets of woven wood window treatments)

Gorgeous, but I agree - generally cost prohibitive for even clients with money.

That store needs to get over it's self---everything is over priced and not all that wonderful to boot! I do not even like looking at their web page for the fun of it.

I covet Conrad shades, but I had no idea they were that expensive. Are the artisans who weave them adequately compensated? Sheesh.
