Bauhaus 2 Your House

scan0026.gif2006_07_05_B2H_logo.jpgBauhaus 2 Your House was started with the idea that customers should have the same access (and to-the-trade pricing) to modern classics that architects and designers enjoyed. It is now one of the biggest online retailers of modern reproduction furniture, offering fully-licensed reproductions of both modern and contemporary designs.

In a sea of cheap reproductions from China, B2H products are all made in Italy and stand out for their accurate representations of the original designs in terms of quality, dimension and scale. They pride themselves on their commitment to high quality, great design, and value for the money.

As their website says: When you work with us, you'll be talking with staff knowledgeable about and interested in the products they sell -- from the materials and construction of the pieces to their history. We choose factories reproducing classics that are true to the originals in quality, size, scale, materials, proportions, dimensions, and symmetry. We understand that it is a leap of faith to order furniture sight unseen, and strive to make you feel that you've made a good choice.

B2H's list of designers include designs by le Corbusier, Eero Saarinen, and Mies Van der Rohe, and Harry Bertoia, among many others.

If you've sat upon, touched, viewed, or purchased furniture from B2H, let us all know what you thought.

Some of the prices on their website are actually higher than DWR or Room and Board prices for the same item. That doesnt make sense.

Is it the outrageous prices that prevent these "accurate representations of the original designs" from being called knock-off?

I love Jean Michel Frank's designs but I don't have $4500 to spend on my new sofa.
