(Welcome again to Ryan, one of the finalists vying for a blogging position at the upcoming AT:Home Tech. Comment away.)

2007_01_08_dh_logo.jpgDesign House is located in Vancouver, BC and is part of the renovated warehouse district known as Yaletown. With their carefully selected offerings of home furnishings and personal accessories, walking into Design House is the real life equivalent of typing 'only good design' into Google and pressing the 'I'm feeling lucky' button.

2007_01_08_ole4.jpgWhether you are looking for a new couch or a new watch, it's all right there and you didn't have to search around to find it. Carrying the likes of Iittala, Kartell and Dela Espada just to name a few, Design House certainly lives up to its name.

What makes Design House unique is how they integrate expected design names with not as well known Canadian-made items along with pieces designed in the Design House workshop.

When it comes to home office furniture, the Brasilia Desk by Baronet is definitely a nice option with integrated top pockets adding a useful storage niche for commonly used items.

If custom sizing is important for you, the Pocket desk with its integrated keyboard tray can be made to order.

For the media room, the Konran Ottoman can be ordered as a storage ottoman and in custom fabrics. I can picture this under the wall-hung plasma as additional seating for the room when the TV is not in use as well as a spot to store remotes and DVDs or even components such as the DVD player (if you're feeling adventurous with running wiring into and out of the ottoman). If a full entertainment unit is more what you are looking for, the Brasilia Media stand [pictured at top right] can compliment the matching Brasilia desk you have in your home office.

High praise... is it deserving or rather the lucky prize of a blog writer's competition?

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. In a store review, though, I *always* want to hear about the prices, especially in Canadian stores where we usually get ripped off of items imported from the US.

Store is dripping with things you'd only find yourself after taking months to scour the planet. My apartment is half furnished by them. Way better (and easier!) than shopping for design in New York City (second home).
