Look!: Our Childhood Backyard All Grown Up

6-23-08-roosgarden4.jpg

Growing up, our family garden was an ever-changing space. We often had a salad picked straight from the garden but the backyard morphed as our family's needs changed. We had a full vegetable garden for years, then grass when us kidlings needed some running space and now (as empty-nesters!), my parents have come to find a comfortable middle-ground that works beautifully for them. We spent an evening down in LA visiting them (for their 30th anniversary!) and snapped a few shots of the yard. Check out a few more pictures below the jump...

Tomatoes and succulents grow in pots, mint sneaks in by the back door but the garden is filled mainly with flowers and drought tolerant plants that make for a lovely and casual spot for hanging out and entertaining.

I love the colorful chairs and flower pots! It does look like a wonderful backyard to spend time in.

Yes, WE are the creators of this wonderful yard, as well as the creators of the wonderful Shayna! The yard works beautifully for just the two of us (empty-nesters) and also loves a party of at least 60 people! We love the chairs which are strong plastic and from Linens n Things.
