White Globe at Ed Hardy Antiques

7-1-08whiteglobemain.jpgWe were recently at Ed Hardy's antique shop in San Francisco and couldn't stop drooling over this amazing white globe. We're huge vintage globe collectors, so it was a real treat to see something as rare as a white water one (we're big fans of black water globes).

The globe is from the 1940s and is Italian. With the $15,625 price tag (what!?) we won't be purchasing this one for our collection, but it certainly inspired us to start looking for more uniquely colored ones.

I love globes but they take up so much room (room I don't have).

15k for an unfinished globe that doesn't have correct scale, kinda weird, but it is very pretty.

There's a company in Oregon that has a whole line of historically accurate reproduction globes. The company is Authentic Models (www.authenticmodels.com) and they have globes from the past five centuries. I like to watch how our understanding of the world has changed over time.

hahahahaha, the thought of Ed Hardy (tattoo grandfather fantastico) owning an antique shop is quite charming.

It looks like it´s hand painted, so I guess that explains why it´s not finished, and the price tag too (kinda).
