We certainly weren't expecting to find Floréal while walking up Taylor Street the other day. This quant and adorable boutique is situated on a rather strange block, as it's mostly surrounded by apartment buildings and hotels. When inquiring about the location, the gentlemen working the space said "we do a lot of the flowers for Grace Cathedral weddings." It was a definite "Ah ha!" moment... while Floréal is a retail shop, they mainly specialize in French floral arrangements for weddings and corporate accounts.
But enough about flowers... let's talk taxidermy.
San Franciscians love taxidermy. We only know this because we often find shopping bags from places like Paxton Gate floating around friends' apartments. Because of this, Floréal is your definite destination spot for all things natural (or stuffed), but presented in a more feminine and opulent way.
On our "to buy" list: an antique victorian taxidermy box, c. 19th century, as many peacock and pheasant feathers we can afford (at $12 a pop), Mandera Pine taper candlesticks (shown above at $105 for the XL), the small fork bowl (barely visible on the right) by local artist Dave Meeker at $100, and small paper maché mushroom (shown in the photo before the jump) at $135.

I have this set of pressed butterfly (that sounds terrible) dishes that I received from my grandmother. I am thinking about framing them all, but have not been able to find simple, square (7" x 7" or around there) shadow boxes to put them in. Does anybody know a good, cheap source? I am going to try Target on Tuesday...Target Tuesdays (10% off anything in the store)!
