chilly is visiting Seattle this weekend from Vancouver, B.C., and wanted to know what to check out. So we've put together a list of our must-see Seattle housewares shops, if you only have a day or two to see them in.
Chilly informed us that Urban Outfitters in Vancouver doesn't have homewares, and Anthropologie doesn't exist up there. So while they'll be sure to hit up those big-box retailers, we wanted to supplement their shopping tour with some local shops.
• If you go to only one store in Seattle, make it
Velocity. While not in the downtown core, it's well worth the 20-minute walk, bus ride or re-parking to get to the modern design mecca.
• While you're in the neighborhood, David Smith & Co. is nearby for your fill of imports from Southeast Asia — a beautifully laid-out but huge warehouse worth.
• Head back downtown and visit
Great Jones Home for some big-budget eye-candy and French chic inspiration.
• Peter Miller is around the corner, with small home items from makers like Alessi and Normaan Copenhagen, and a vast collection of design books to get ideas flowing.
• If you do the tourist thing at
Pike Place Market...
• ...stop at Watson-Kennedy's new store nearby at 1st and Spring for flea-market-style browsing.
• Finally, if you manage to get out of downtown (and we recommend that you do), don't miss
Collective in Ballard, for a high-low mix of new and vintage furniture, accessories and clothes. Their warehouse is open on the weekend only, and staff can direct you the two or three blocks to get there.

Happy shopping!
There are two areas where you can hit both Urban and Anthro - Downtown or in the University District.
In addition to the store, there is also the Collective warehouse in Ballard. The House vintage furniture store in Magnolia is also worth a look.
Fremont offers some great vintage housewares shopping at Deluxe Junk, the Fremont Antique Mall, and the flea market on Sundays. Some other great areas to visit in the city are Ballard, Capitol Hill, and Georgetown.
A day trip down to Portland (3 hours from Seattle) would offer more treasures, and cheaper prices.
Let me know if you need more recommendations!

I have to add Maison Luxe into the mix too. The shopkeeper Kelly is really cool and her dog Zoe is the best. It has a similar style to Great Jones Home but with a much friendlier attitude! It's on 1st just a couple blocks south of the market.
I also make frequent trips to the Collective and Velocity so they get my vote too. Oh, and I've found some fantastic stuff at the Fremont Sunday market as well.

Recently I was in Seattle and stumbled on a really adorable store called Retro Fit Home on Madison, near Union.

@teamnap: Retrofit is an awesome store, and it is located in the neighborhood called Capital Hill, above Seattle. Other places to check out in the area are: City Home Store, Foxmaid, Area 51 (this one is a must-see), Square Room and Whimsy Decor.
Just below Capital Hill on the other side, is Madison Park, which is a cute area, and has Veritables, Red Ticking, and a few other little boutiques.
DO NOT MISS walking up and down Westlake Ave. (Pike Place Market is on the North end. Check out: LIMN (of San Francisco), Inform Interiors, Diva, Ligne Roset, Roche Bobois, Kasala. Up on 2nd is Maison Luxe and Watson Kennedy.
One of my absolute faves for vintage and new is Chartreuse Modern (down the street from Peter Miller). Check out their store hours before you go though, they are odd. Don't miss Peter Miller though, he is a real character and his store is perfection.
In Ballard, right in the neighborhood of Collective, is: Capers, Tableau, Lucca Statuary, Camelion and Greener Lifestyles.
Don't forget down the street from Velocity is Seva Home.
In case you venture outside of city proper, Kirkland is a food and design destination. Visit KOAP Homes, Simplicity Design and Liberty 123. It's a cute walk for a nice day.
Um, longest post ever, but I hope I offered some more great ideas!

Eek I mean Capitol Hill!

Great additions, iaspire!
A couple of notes: the street with Linge Roset et al is Western, not Westlake. And Maison Luxe and Watson Kennedy are on 1st, not 2nd.
Otherwise, lovely ideas!
