What is the advantage of SMALL? CONT'D
...If I don't love it, I don't buy it and I only purchase things for my home that I know I will keep for many years.
What's your favorite resource for your home?
I prefer to shop local and vintage. Many of my favorite things are 2nd use! If its not local, I probably bought it on vacation. I am a magazine junkie and look to Elle Decor, Domino and many others for inspiration.
What is your one favorite element in your small, cool home?
I love entertaining so having an open floor plan is great. Also, I have a large yard which is great for summer entertaining. I've had winter parties w/ 30+ guest and summer parties with double that!
I really like many of the elements in this entry, and I especially appreciate seeing almost all of it represented in the photos.

Very pretty and feminine. Not my style but really well done and a very nice size.

I have a Salome poster too, but mine's from a theatre production.

airy and upscale (with IKEA), very nice.

I see this entry is not getting many votes and it's a shame. This place is restful, tasteful.... overall, lovely. I wish more people appreciated this esthetic. In any case, I sure LOVE it.

The living with the view outside is really nice, but I do not like the cairs much, or th ebedroom. But at least we're getting a pic of the bedroom with this entry :)

Oy... lots of stuff going on here, some good, some not. Good: you've established your sense of style and are working towards it. Bad: you missed in a couple spots-
The dining chairs are way to BIIIIIG for that little table. And the table is all the wrong style. Have the table relaminated in pink or gloss black or white. Then go to IKEA and get those 'fancy' aluminum table legs and paint them to match.
The big problem with this aesthetic is that you can't hold back. You cant be timid. You need to push it more and more and more - get some more colors and textures in there. Get some velvet drapes, a faux zebra rug, and some chunky crystal table lamps. Go totally over the top!

It almost looks like you have too much space. Having the open space is nice, but I'm having a hard time understanding your challenge with living in a small space. I also see that you enjoy entertaining, so maybe being able to have lots of people over at once is important to you, and therefore you NEED the wide open space. I would try adding some additional artwork to the walls to bring the space more together, not to make it feel smaller, but to pull together some of the loose ends that contribute to its vast feel.

Is that a IKEA lack bookshelf your are using as a coffee table? That is a great idea. I am having trouble finding a good coffee table and that might work. How does it feel? Is it solid?

Standard issue.

loving the ikea bookshelf as coffee table - totally might borrow that idea for a quick fix!
I agree that you could amp it up a bit. I like where you are going (even though it's not really to my aesthetic) but it doesn't seem quite there yet.

monochromatic (white) is very hard to pull off.
your bedroom is great.
the living space, for me, however, has too many discordant elements (blue pillows, red print, animal print chairs). you either need more color or less ( ie red pillows/print/chairs) (everything white/tan) (paint your walls). your choice.
this is stuck in between.

This reminds me of my aunt's retirement condo in Florida... definitely a little too "old" for some tastes.

Good clean lines, open space and no clutter! What more could you ask for? Love it! It's also refreshing to have a small house in the mix.

That70sHeidi must have a very hip aunt. I think this bungalow is charming in every way.Great open floor plan . What you have done makes it feel comfortable, inviting and very chic all at th same time. I love your bedroom with your cosy desk area, your french doors ,but most of all your dining chairs. They are the best. Love them!

This home has clean lines and is open and well lit but something about it just didn't click for me. The dining room chairs really stood out, at first I thought, I don't like it but then I read modfan's comment and then it all made sense

I completely agree.

Looks like everything is made of white plastic. I agree, it looks like my grandmother could live there and I'm a grandmother.) very little warmth. Re: the floor plan. Where;s the front door? The thought of owning a 600 foot house---what a terrific find.

Not totally into your look/style, though I can see what you're going for. I agree it needs to be amped up or toned down... it could be a LOT more glam/witty.
However, that is a cool 600 sq ft house. Lots of potential. I'm jealous that you live there by yourself.

Great place! It feels both clean and warm, not easy to pull off. Did you buy those amazing chairs or do them yourself? I think TV's can ruin a space and yours would be the last thing I see as I would walk in the front door, nice work. Seem's like a place I would love to hang out!

I like almost everything. But the dining area ruins it all! It doesn´t quite go with the rest of the apartment´s style.
