Look!: Space Invader Cookies

Is it still chilly where you are? Tonight might be a great night to stay inside with a mug of cocoa and bake a batch of cookies. But this time, instead of your usual 7-minute cookie routine of unwrapping and slicing a log of dough, why don't you try something new and make a night of it? These Space Invader cookies look difficult to mess up and make a great geek statement... and if you've got a honey as nerdy about old school games as you are, why not whip them up a batch for Valentine's Day? They're sure to impress more than a box of chocolates from the corner store...

Flickr user SeattleJonman posted a set of photos detailing the instructions for whipping up a batch of old-school cookies with the iconic Space Invaders dudes plastered right in the middle. How does he do it? With an equally retro Play Doh Fun Factory dough shaper.

You could really build any "pixelated" image into your cookies with this method. Just make sure to work out your plan in a spreadsheet program with colored cells first so that you have a blueprint for your gamer's dozen. And of course, make sure you use safe—and awesome!—oven mits like these that make your hand look like a clickable icon.
